Digital Rewards delivered + Book is at the Printer + Surprise!

Hi there, Dream Warriors -
Two bits of great news, as the subject line suggests, plus a surprise.
First things first:
Digital Rewards Delivered!
If you've filled out your survey, you should have already received an email from Backerkit letting you know that your files are available for download there.
If anyone still needs to retrieve your survey, you can do it here:
https://dreamquest-1-2-48-page-lovecraftian-horror-sequel.backerkit.com/
As always, if there's a problem with anything, especially if Frieda screwed up delivering your files, please let us know. We'll make sure she's appropriately punished...and then we'll fix it.
Now, second things second:
The Book Is at the Printer!
I delivered the files to our printer yesterday, and they have told me their current turnaround time is two weeks.
I have no idea how the Thanksgiving holiday will affect that ETA, but the bottom line is: We should have these in hand pretty darn quick, and I'll do my best to make sure Frieda ships them out as fast as she can.
In an ideal world, you'll have this before the holidays, Frequent Frier.
And, last things last (but not least):
You Got a Bonus Upgrade!
We realize this book is a little later than we'd hoped.
We originally promised delivery in October, but Mick's had a bit of a busy year, what with his work on this year's WHITE ASH ANNUAL (thanks a lot, Stickney!).
When it was apparent that Mick needed help with the inks, we brought on the talented David Forrest Fox to help out.
But Dave couldn't start right away, which meant Alex's original window for coloring the book had been missed.
To their credit, these professionals busted their buns to get the book out as quickly as possible while still keeping an eye on quality. So kudos to them!
And to thank you for your patience while we brought this thing in for a landing, we have unlocked the final stretch goal, which we didn't quite hit during the campaign. Which means:
DREAMQUEST 2 has been upgraded to a 52 page book!
That's 2 more pages than promised, and 4 more than the original campaign advertised.
Thanks again for your support. And, as always, happy reading!

Colors Finished! + Don't Forget Your Survey

Hey there, Dream Warrior -
I'm happy to report that colors for the final 10 pages are in from Alex, and they look fantastic!
There will be a quick round of fixes plus last looks on letters, and then we'll have this off to the printer. At that point, I'm going to get digital editions out to you lickety-split.
But in order to do that...
Have You Finished Your Survey?
Here's where things stand, survey-wise:
That's not too shabby...but we'd love to have it closer to 100%.
(I'll let you decided which category I'm talking about).
If anyone needs to retrieve their survey, you can do it here:

Coming Attractions
What's next from Fried Comics? We're going back to the future!
Ten years ago, Alexandre O. Philippe and I teamed with artist Leila del Duca, colorist Brett Nienburg, and letterer Charles Pritchett to create DEADSKINS!, a zombie horror western comedy for mature readers.
(Think “Blazing Saddles” meets “The Walking Dead.”)
We serialized it on our website, and later brought it to comiXology. Finally, in 2020, we Kickstarted a “remastered” edition, darkening the lines to bring out the beauty of our black, white, and red production.
We printed all five issues over three volumes, and at the time, each volume was our highest grossing campaign ever.
Now, just a few scant years later, we are nearly sold out of our original run of DEADSKINS!, so that means it’s time for THE TENTH ANNIVERSARY EDITION!
This hardcover collection will contain a full cover gallery and exclusive, never-before-collected bonus material.
If you missed out on those first campaigns—or just love hardcovers!—click the image above or…

More details coming soon, Frequent Frier!
OK, looking forward to getting DREAMQUEST 2 into your hands...and then getting back down to work on Part 3!
See you in the Dream Realms,

Backerkit Bug Resolved...
– Fri, Oct 25, 2024 at 04:56:16 PM
Hi all -
Following up on yesterday's post, Backerkit did a software update this week that resulted in a bug that counted add-ons more than once.
Apparently, this has affected 20 creators/campaigns, so I guess the good news is that we're not special.
The glitch has been resolved now, but I had to manually go into everyone's surveys and delete the extra items. If you think you were affected, I want to make you aware of 2 things:
1. Some of you were charged extra shipping for the add-ons beyond what you paid in Kickstarter. Let me say this loud and clear:
I never charge extra shipping Backerkit and (hopefully) never will.
If your survey indicated you owed us money for shipping on add-ons you purchased through Kickstarter, I have gone through your survey and given you a credit, making your balance zero.
2. If it was super-obvious that your order included an unwanted duplicate, I deleted it. For example, if your cart showed that you ordered 4 digital copies of DREAMQUEST 2 (yes, this is a real example), I deleted 3 of them. We don't sell NFTs, so I assume you don't need multiple digital copies...
But because some people DO like to order multiple print copies, I didn't want to assume what you do and do not want to order.
In these cases, I will be sending you a Direct Message through Kickstarter and ask you to double-check your survey before I charge cards.
So, if you ordered physical add-ons through Kickstarter, keep your eye on your inbox.
OK, I think that covers everything. Sincere apologies for the hassle--obviously, this isn't the ideal situation, and we appreciate your patience and support.
So, until we chat again... keep on filling out those surveys!

Possible survey glitch?
– Thu, Oct 24, 2024 at 07:40:32 PM
Hi all -
The smoke test went off without a hitch, but since going wide this morning, I've received two messages about a possible glitch in the Backerkit survey.
(Apparently some of you are seeing duplicate add-ons in your cart and are unable to delete them.)
I’ve written Backerkit to find out what is going on. If this happens to you, hang tight, and apologies for the inconvenience.
Back soon with more info and a solution...

Coloring almost finished + Surveys THIS WEEK!

Hey there, Dream Warriors-
Last time out, I promised a look at Alex’s colors, but first, it's time for a…
Production Update
Alex is coloring the final 10 pages as we speak, and the book is looking great!
Editor Frank Pittarese has already given notes on my first pass at lettering, so all the edits should be completed by the time Alex finishes up.
We are super close to the finish line, my friends.
Which means it’s…
Survey Time
Backerkit is currently reviewing our surveys, which can take up to 48 hours, at which point we will send out the “smoke test.”
This simply means that a small number of backers will receive their surveys first so that we can “smoke out” any problems before we go wide with them.
So keep an eye on your inboxes for surveys THIS WEEK.
OK, enough business! Now for the fun stuff--namely a sneak peek at some…
Colors
A few updates back, I shared this page with you...
And here it is, all colored up:
Pretty sweet, if I do say so myself!
Thanks for your patience as we get this across the finish line. We were hoping to be sending the book out by now, but we think it'll be worth the few extra weeks it takes to get it right.
More soon!

P.S. If you're looking for more Lovecraft, artist Mick Beyers just launched the remastered edition of his Lovecraft/Washington Irving mash-up HOLLOW:
Hollow: A Lovecraftian Horror Story for Mature Readers
Here's the pitch: The Warlock Ichabod Crane seeks to wake the Elder God beneath Sleepy Hollow, and the Witch Katrina Van Tassel must stop him.
The original edition came out from Source Point Press a few years back, but Mick is remastering the story with new material. This 128 page graphic novel is indeed graphic, so if you don't mind a little sex with your magic...
